Statement of Faith

God

We believe in the triune God and that there is only one God. God is expressed in three persons as God the father, God the son and God the mother/the Holy Spirit.

Jesus (Yeshua)

We believe in the divinity of Yeshua, aslo called Jesus Christ of Nazareth. He died on the cross so that we may be free from sin and covered by his blood. Dying on the cross was not his only purpose, he also taught us how to love, forgive and to live a righteous life. He came to comfort and rescue the oppressed and the outcast. He came to give us a place to belong. He challenged the religious system of his time, so we do the same. We believe that Jesus is not some white guy from Europe, instead he is a man of Jewish descent from the Middle East.

The Holy Spirit (Sophia)

The Holy spirit is the manifestaion of God, within us and around us. She is the divine feminine aspect of God, also Called Sophia, Chokmah and Shekinah. When we repent, it is not Jesus that “comes into our hearts”, it is Sophia. Sophia is God the Mother and our comforter. She guides us and gives wisdom to those that seek it. Mary, mother of Jesus, is the incarnation of Sophia here on Earth. She was the first to have the Shekinah dwell with in her.

Hell

We believe that Hell is not a place of eternal damnation. Hell is a word that has been used too often, to replace words such as Sheol, Hades and Gehenna. It is confused with the lake of fire by evangelicals, which is a place for Samael (Satan) and his demons. It is a place where those that have rejected the gift of life go. We believe in the destruction of the soul, not eternal damnation.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is divinly inspired, but it is not the word of God. We do not believe that the bible is infallible nor is it inerrant. We believe that humans wrote the bible and that they have also twisted in to fit their own agendas and hateful ideology. These “translations” have been used to oppress people and to create tribalistic ideologies. It has given rise to such movements as Christian nationalism, which in turn comes from evangelic ism. It has been used to justify racism, sexism, bigotry towards those of other faiths, transphobia and homophobia. The bible is still our sacred and central holy text, but it is not our sole source of philosophical inspiration. As we learn and grow, so does our canon. Currently we use the NRSV and accept several other books such as the book of Jasher.

Baptism

We believe that baptism is not needed for salvation, but it is an important ritual and that every Christian should receive a baptism. How we are baptized is not important, what is important is that we are baptized. To argue over how we are baptized is trivial and childish. It is divisive and is contrary to the teachings of the bible.

Communion (Eucharist)

We believe that communion is an important ritual within the Christian faith. Christ taught us to be united and in communion with each other. During the last supper he taught us that the bread represented his body and that the wine represented his blood. We believe that the bread and wine do not turn into his body and blood, but rather, they are symbols to remind us of his sacrifice. It teaches us to be united and to continue to break bread with one another.

Magic and Witchcraft

We believe that God is the source of all magic, through Sophia. Since Sophia is in all of us, so is magic and wisdom. We believe that it is not our own power that we use when casting spells or practicing rituals; we are vessels of the triune God and through us magic flows.

Mysticism and Spirituality

We believe that there is more to the scriptures and Christian living than just a dead faith, and reading the scriptures at face value. We believe in a living faith and spirituality. We believe in a mystical understanding of the scriptures and a way of living. We see God all around us and is ever present in all creation; including the rocks, trees, water, grass, us, animals, all the way down to the smallest of creatures.

LGBT

We believe that it is not a sin to be gay or transgender. All are welcome in the house of God and into the priesthood. We believe that all have the right to be married within the church and to be in full communion with the Church.
